Konnichiwa, it’s “Check out my friend” Wednesday!

October 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

And this time, it’s a friend-of-my-heart, a very lovely lady I’ve mentioned on here before… That’s right, it’s my best friend Genevieve, she of the ultra-rare and special Grand Sextile in her natal chart, she of the woodcutting and yoga-teaching fame. (She moved to Japan a long time ago and studied the art of woodcut printing; then she moved back to the US and, some years later, became a yoga instructor. She’s a woman of many talents.)

Here’s me and Miss Vivi with little Mr. Pooky Woo, Kenji, back two-and-a-half years ago:

Now Miss Vivi is in Japan again for the next several months, with her husband and Mr. Pooky Woo. And this is her blog of their life in Tokyo. Notice the ridiculously cute kid (hey, he’s all grown up now!). Notice the extra-dee-lish-looking home-made sushi, which should give you an idea of the beautiful, stylish and artistic way Miss Vivi does pretty much everything in her life. Notice the lovely Miss Vivi in the boat. Notice the river, and the trees, and the sky. That’s Japan!

Oh, and, bonus: As I was Googling the Japanese word for “hello,” I came across this piece of cuteness. I guess it’s not as cute as lots of Japanese things, like cute little disembodied butts wearing cute little panties that you can trade (wtf???), or cute little eggs that you crack open and there’s dirt and a little seed inside, and you water it and it grows into a cactus, or weird but cute little Salz and Pfeffer shakers. But it is cute, dammit. I guess I just like the paragraph that goes: “I am Maki. My favourite food is fruits. I am Tomoko. I like pink grapefruits. I am Sawako. My favourite food is tako-yaki. It is made of octopus. I am Ai. My favourite food is yakisoba, or fried noodles. We will write about our lunch.” So maybe you’ll think it’s cute too. Enjoy!
