Cute Knut, I am sorry for your loss.

That poor little guy is Knut, a polar bear who lives in a German zoo. His daddy/handler, Thomas Doerflein, died of “mysterious causes” in Berlin last week. (They think he may have had a heart attack or cancer.)

Poor Knut. He reminds me of the little polar bear doll my parents gave me for Christmas when I was about five years old, which was my prized possession for a good many years. He also reminds me of my beloved Mr. Monske:

Beautiful, white, fluffy Mr. Monske.

And Knut reminds me of my beloved Laser, because of the way he waggles his paws in the air and tries to bite Mr. Doerflein:

Laser waggling his arms in the air.
Laser had sharp little teeth when he was just a wee little polar-pup.
Laser had sharp little teeth when he was just a wee little polar-pup.

Here is a ridiculously cute Knut video. You can sing along, at least with the chorus’s refrain — “Knu-ut, Knu-ut –” That’s all I know.

Love, Catherine

Not only is he adorable, he’s very musical. Did you happen to notice the way he waves his paw to the beat of the music in the first scene of him drinking from a bottle.

This little guy reminds me of our old dog, Ojo. I think I’ve mentioned that Monske always reminds me Ojo the munchkin dog as we referred to him (even though he wasn’t miniature in any way).
