Summer 2025:

Weeklong Kids’ Summer Writing Camps

in Southwest Austin, Texas!

Empowering young writers to find their voices
and build community as they explore three writing genres—fiction, poetry and memoir—in this fun, inspiring half-day summer camp.

My philosophy:

Everyone is a storyteller. Everyone has a unique voice. And everyone has something important to say. I delight in helping young writers connect with their unique creative voices and perspectives, and supporting them in telling their stories, their way.

How the camps are structured:

Each weeklong writing camp runs from 9 AM–12 noon, Monday through Friday, in my home in Southwest Austin. During our time together, we gain daily inspiration from mentor texts, and then write together and share our readings aloud. We give each other positive feedback only, in order to encourage each other’s voices and help each other develop our work. By Friday, we each develop a favorite piece of writing, and each camper has the option to read their work aloud at an open-mic-style gathering (parents/guardians, siblings and friends are invited to attend—refreshments provided!).

Along with instilling a love of creative writing in kids and helping them explore their unique voices, I welcome diversity and prioritize creating a safe and nurturing environment for all.
